About This Event

Graham Gouldman is one of the most quietly prolific songwriters in British pop, the co-founder of 10cc and the pen behind an astonishing run of 1960s hits for other artists before that. Heart Full of Songs is the project he set up more than a decade ago purely for the pleasure of playing his songs in their simplest form, and this semi-acoustic show lets that craftsmanship shine. The set moves from 10cc landmarks such as I'm Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday through the songs he wrote for The Hollies, The Yardbirds and Herman's Hermits, a reminder of just how much of the era's soundtrack came from his hand. Between the numbers Gouldman shares the stories behind the songs, offering an unhurried, personal look at a career that touched so many of the decade's biggest records. Performed by a tight four-piece, the arrangements strip the material back to its melodic bones, so the writing itself takes centre stage. For lovers of finely made songs performed by their composer, it is an exquisite and rather special evening.
