Emmaus North East to Open a Charity Shop on King Street
Homelessness charity Emmaus North East is opening a new shop selling pre-loved goods on King Street in South Shields town centre. An opening date is still to be confirmed.
King Street is set to gain a new charity shop. Emmaus North East, the homelessness charity, has announced that it is opening a shop on South Shields' main shopping street, as reported by the Shields Gazette on 20 October.
What to expect
The new shop will sell pre-loved goods. In its own announcement on social media, the charity described it as a new space for pre-loved finds and said it would be open soon, promising more updates to follow.
An official opening date has not yet been confirmed.
A familiar name in South Tyneside
Emmaus North East is already well known locally, with its South Shields community on Stanhope Road and shops elsewhere in the region, including Lucie's Legacy at The Viking Centre in Jarrow. The King Street shop brings its charity retail into the heart of the town centre. Buying second-hand from a charity shop keeps good items in use and out of landfill, and the money spent supports the charity's work.
The opening also adds another occupied unit to King Street at a time when the town centre is seeing several changes, including plans approved this autumn for the former Wilko on Market Place.

We will add the shop to our directory once it opens and its address and opening hours are confirmed.
