About 22nd (Brownsea) South Shields Scout Group

The 22nd (Brownsea) South Shields Scout Group takes its name from Brownsea Island, the birthplace of Scouting, and serves the Whiteleas area of the town. It meets at Whiteleas Community Centre on Hogarth Road and is part of South Tyneside Scouts, offering Scouting sections by age so that local children can take part in everything from games and badge work to camps, outdoor adventures and community projects. Weekly meetings run during term time in the community centre, with a broader calendar of trips and events through the year. Scouting is kept deliberately affordable, with modest subscriptions and a one-off uniform cost that can often be met second-hand, and groups will always help so that no child misses out. The group depends on adult volunteers to run its sections, and it is usually the number of leaders rather than space that decides how many children a group can take.
