About Hebburn Central

Hebburn Central is Hebburn's town-centre leisure and community hub, a purpose-built facility that opened in 2015. It combines a six-lane 25-metre community swimming pool and a flexible learning pool with a floating floor, a large fitness suite, dance studios, a four-court sports hall and an external all-weather pitch. The building also integrates a public library and media space, community meeting and events rooms, and council customer-service facilities under one roof. Run by South Tyneside Council, it proved popular from the outset, attracting well over 200,000 users in its first year and serving as a focal point for the town.
