UKTC Taekwondo South Shields

United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Council club training at the Mortimer Community Association, with belt-based classes for children from age three through to teenagers and adults.

About UKTC Taekwondo South Shields

UKTC Taekwondo South Shields teaches the traditional Korean martial art of Taekwon-Do at the Mortimer Community Association on Reading Road in NE33. As part of the United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Council network, it offers a clear grading and belt structure and caters for the full age range, from a Little Tiger Cubs group for three to five year olds through to teenagers and adults. Regular classes are non-contact, with the emphasis on technique, patterns and fitness rather than heavy sparring.

The club is popular with families because the belt system gives children visible goals to work towards, and the focus on balance, coordination and self-discipline carries over into school and everyday life. Sessions run from a friendly community venue rather than a commercial gym, keeping the atmosphere relaxed, local and beginner-friendly.
