About Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare

Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare, on Low Lane near Whiteleas in South Shields, is one of the town's traditional community sports hubs. Rooted in the area's colliery welfare heritage, it provides a floodlit grass pitch, outdoor five-a-side pitches, a crown bowling green and cricket facilities, alongside a clubhouse with a bar and function room used by teams and members across South Tyneside.

Today the ground is a key base for local football, hosting South Shields FC Women in the North East Regional Women's Football League as well as junior and veterans sides. The hall and its facilities are also available to hire for social, educational and community events, making it a well-used all-round venue for the Harton and Westoe neighbourhoods.
