About South Shields FC

South Shields FC, known as the Mariners, is a semi-professional football club based at Mariners Park (the 1st Cloud Arena) in the Simonside area near Jarrow. The club competes in the National League North, one of the higher tiers of English non-league football, and fields both men's and women's teams. Alongside the first team it runs an academy with age groups from 11 to 19 and a community foundation delivering programmes across South Tyneside. The ground has a capacity of around 4,000 and also hosts other fixtures. The club offers pitch bookings for five-a-side and seven-a-side matches, and maintains a history archive documenting its long standing in the town.
