About This Event

A rare chance to spend an evening in the company of one of the North East's best-known broadcasters. Jeff Brown is a familiar face to a generation of regional viewers, having spent more than two decades at BBC Look North, where he began covering sport before moving into presenting the region's daily news. Over that time he reported on some of the North East's defining moments and worked alongside broadcasting names he had admired since his own youth. Expect a warm, anecdote-rich conversation as Jeff looks back across a long career in journalism and broadcasting. Since leaving the presenter's chair he has turned his hand to podcasting, recording interviews with sporting greats including Alan Shearer, and to the stage, writing the play The Bench. This audience event offers the stories behind the headlines and a candid, personal take on decades of North East news and sport, with plenty of the humour and easy rapport that made him a viewers' favourite.
