About This Event

Two very different public figures share a stage for a conversation that promises to range far beyond the usual literary-festival fare. Kevin Maguire, born in South Shields, is one of the country's most prominent political journalists and associate editor of the Daily Mirror, a regular fixture on the airwaves and a sharp, well-connected voice on Westminster and beyond. In conversation opposite him is Feargal Sharkey, once the unmistakable voice of The Undertones and now one of Britain's most tireless campaigners for clean rivers and the health of the nation's waterways. Their pairing brings together politics, music and the environment, and the result is likely to be as entertaining as it is pointed, taking in everything from the state of Britain's rivers to the workings of power and the media. The event returns Kevin Maguire to his home town as part of the festival programme. Please note it is listed as sold out, so ticket availability may be limited.
