Colmans Fish and Chips
A South Shields institution serving fish and chips for over five generations. One of the best-known chippies in the North East.
About Colmans Fish and Chips
Colmans Fish and Chips is a South Shields institution on Ocean Road, run by five generations of the Colman family. The business began in 1905 as a small hut on the South Shields foreshore selling drinks and chips, and moved into fish and chips when the family took their first permanent Ocean Road premises in 1926, the same site they still operate from a century on. Long regarded as one of the best-known chippies in the North East, Colmans serves fish and chips and sustainably sourced seafood as both a takeaway and sit-in restaurant, and has since expanded with the Colmans Seafood Temple and a Colmans site at Fenwick in Newcastle.
