South Shields Market is a long-running town market held in the historic Market Place, close to St Hilda's Church and the town centre. It has long been a fixture of local life, bringing traders and shoppers into the heart of the town. Following changes overseen by South Tyneside Council, the Saturday market is being run under a new operator arrangement, with the aim of refreshing the offer through a mix of local producers, independent traders and street food alongside the market's existing stallholders.
